Clutches and flywheels

The clutch links two main parts of the vehicle, the engine and the gearbox.

During engine operation, the clutch interrupts the transmission of this energy to allow the gearbox to shift smoothly.

This mechanical organ consists of three different elements, which are disc, pressure plate and thrust bearing.

The presence of the engine flywheel allows the kinematic chain to be harmonised. It comes in two versions: single mass and dual mass. The latter dampens vibrations, making clutch operation softer and smoother.

The clutch pump, on the other hand, plays a primary role in disengaging and operating the clutch.
